Why do they call nuns, nuns?

nate nate i just don't know! There may be a historical reason such as they became 'nun' to the outside world and just gave themselves to god or it could mean something in a different language. You could totally find the answer to this if you did a little research. When you find out, please let me know. I've always just accepted this title and never asked why.
